About Us

The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum remains the only children’s museum in our fifteen-county region and one of only seven children’s museums in the state of Virginia (and 341 worldwide!) Through a rich variety of interactive, hands-on exhibits and educational programs, the Museum strives to increase each child’s chances for success in school and in life. It is a centerpiece not only of the Winchester community, but also of the larger Shenandoah Valley. Since opening its doors in 1996, over a half million visitors have enjoyed the Museum’s informal, fun, and play-filled learning environment.

Come visit Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or on Sundays from 1 until 5 p.m. Admission fees are $8 per person for ages 2 and older; musuem members enter free of charge. The museum is located at 19 W. Cork Street on the downtown walking mall in Winchester (just across from the new splash pad!) For more information on programs and special events, please see: www.discoverymuseum.net or call 540.722.2020
