New Orleans Recreation Development Foundation

New Orleans, LA

  • About Us

The New Orleans Recreation Development Foundation facilitates investment in the Orleans Parish recreation system for the purpose of providing access to quality recreational opportunities for all New Orleans citizens. It was created as a result of a City of New Orleans Ordinance, developed by the City Council and approved by 74% of voters in October 2010, to form a public/private partnership to improve the parish’s recreational facilities and programs. The ordinance created a thirteen-member New Orleans Development Recreation Commission (NORD Commission) to oversee the Orleans Parish recreation system. A private 501(c)(3) New Orleans Recreation Development Foundation (NORD Foundation) was also mandated by the ordinance to support the work of the NORD Commission.
