  • About Us

The Michigan Prison Doula Initiative has provided childbirth education and birth doula support to birthing people in Michigan’s women’s prison since 2018.Our mission is to provide compassionate birth and parenting support to incarcerated people. MPDI’s vision for the future includes opportunities for further bonding between mothers and their families, re-entry resources, mentorship opportunities, and extra time for mothers to bond with and feed their babies. And, ultimately, we envision a future in which pregnant people are not incarcerated. Find out more about us at this link (https://mpdi.org/) or contact Cara Genisio at cara@mpdi.org with questions.
