Nomad Schools creates mobile English as a Second Language (ESL) courses for adult immigrants and displaced populations that need English language skills for their education, career and life goals. Communities and populations served by Nomad Schools face exceptional challenges that diminish their attempts to reach their goals including trauma, language barriers, disease and in some cases safety issues as a result of living in conflict zones.
Nomad’s focus is providing curriculum and assistance to communities, teachers and students with an innovative three-prong approach - mobile learning, community-based mentorship and tools for personal empowerment and self-discovery. Through working with communities using a case-based qualitative approach, the team has discovered ways to circumvent poor outcomes in traditional ESL education approaches as well as better understand and support teachers in ongoing crisis/conflict areas through relevant training.
