About Us

The 100% online master's in tourism and hospitality management from the University of Florida’s Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (THEM) prepares working and aspiring professionals to acquire strong analytical and marketing skills, management expertise and in-depth knowledge of environmental and social concerns so they can move up the career ladder.

The tourism and hospitality management curriculum has been developed to meet the needs of the tourism and hospitality industry while effectively preparing students with a fundamental management perspective of public and private sector destinations. 

Using real data from top industry experts at companies like Universal Parks & Resorts and The Ritz Carlton, students in the online HBM program develop resource-based views and comprehensive strategies for managing and leading tourism and hospitality organizations. HBM students learn from case studies to gain confidence in building, measuring and managing profitable marketing plans and brand strategies.

To be considered for University of Florida's online hospitality management master's program, candidates must meet the following admissions requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA)
  • Two years of full-time work experience preferred
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose
  • Resume
  • Application fee: $37

While we are no longer requiring the GRE or GMAT, we will still be assessing your verbal and quantitative abilities.

  • For verbal assessment we will consider:
  • TOFEL scores (if applicable)
  • Statement of Purpose
  • For quantitative assessment we will consider grades in:
  • Math-based natural science courses (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, etc.)
  • Applied and Theoretical Math courses (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Statistics, College Algebra, etc.)
