Our organization is comprised presently of four individuals:
Ashley Cohen is the founder and executive director of ABC Reentry. Over the past as Managing Partner of Bonjean Law Group for the past 11 years, she has assisted in the exonerations and/or early releases of over 19 individuals. Throu recognized almost immediately how difficult it was for them to transition back into society. She has experience assisting in all aspects of reentry from helping obtain vital documents, technology proficiency, home and car purchases and/or rentals, employment opportunities, expungements, and other general guidance. She wants to use my passion and experience to change a broken system that overlooks an incredible population of individuals who deserve a second chance.
Robert Almodovar: After spending 23 years wrongly convicted of a double murder, Robert Almodovar has dedicated his life to supporting formerly incarcerated individuals. As a law clerk at the Bonjean Law Group, he helps clients obtain essential documents such as driver’s licenses, Social Security cards, and medical care, easing their transition back into society. He also serves as a strong advocate, attending court appearances and building community support for those reentering their communities.
Roosevelt Myles was wrongly imprisoned for 28 years. After his release, he founded HelpBreakTheChain.org and a Big Brother mentorship program. While incarcerated, he earned his paralegal certificate and fought tirelessly for his freedom. Today, he is a motivational speaker and mentor who inspires young people across the country to avoid the traps of drug abuse and gun violence. Roosevelt is deeply committed to ensuring returning citizens have the tools and support they need to rebuild their lives.
Jimmy Soto was the longest-serving exoneree in Illinois history, spending 42 years in prison for a wrongful conviction. During his incarceration, he became a skilled jailhouse lawyer, advocating for fellow inmates facing wrongful convictions or excessive sentences. Now free, he works as a paralegal at Northwestern School of Law and serves as a Community Justice Fellow at the University of Chicago. With plans to attend law school in 2025, Jimmy remains dedicated to advancing justice and supporting those impacted by wrongful incarceration.
Together, we intend to provide peer to peer support and guidance to those who are released from prison.
