The Xavier Project exists to provide opportunities to urban refugees in Kenya and Uganda who are otherwise excluded from the means to live fulfilled and dignified lives.
The vision is that ''through a holistic approach to development urban refugees will be able to take back control of their lives and make a positive change whether to their new communities or to their country of origin.''
We have three main programmes:
We currently sponsor over 80 children's education in Kenya and Uganda. We also provide the children with life skills, computer literacy, and reading lessons.
We support refugee businesses through free accounting, marketing and financial consultancy services. We also offer our services to local businesses in exchange for them employing refugees.
We have a free internet hub for refugees, where we provide free computer and social media courses. We encourage refugees to make a 'space' for themselves on the internet and to blog about their lives, their views, and what is happening in their countries. We want the world to know.
We create and distribute a free refugee newsletter.
We have offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda.
