While our work benefits communities of all kinds, our focus is on those who may be underserved by conventional lenders, including people of color, women, rural residents and low-wealth families and communities.

    Self-Help Credit Union was established in 1984 in North Carolina. Over the past decade, we have merged with nine community-focused credit unions. These locally-rooted institutions were seeking to stabilize their operations and increase their products and services. Today Self-Help Credit Union serves nearly 60,000 members through 23 branches and lending offices across North Carolina.
