Spotlight Madagascar

Spotlight Madagascar was started in 2007 with a view towards facilitating grassroots development in Madagascar. With a focus on self-empowerment through capacity building, technical training and education initiatives at a community level we hoped to encourage local people to take ownership of their development and release themselves from the cycle of dependency that foreign aid has created in many developing countries.

We are currently on hold, reassessing community needs, and rethinking the entire aid system in Madagascar. In the future Spotlight Madagascar will be a self-sufficient, self-sustaining entity run by local people, combining local and traditional knowledge with innovations in income generation, non-formal education, and volunteerism for community-based improvement.
