About Us

HATAS was formed in 1924 with the mission to end homelessness within Albany County and the Capital Region. We meet the immediate need for shelter, food and clothing in addition to addressing the long-term need for affordable housing and employment. Over the course of 2015, HATAS assisted over 12,500 persons seeking assistance within the Capital Region.

HATAS programs include 92 units of housing, mental health, 24/7 emergency shelter, rapid re-housing, backpacks for hungry students, code blue, veteran housing, and employment assistance. We employ a holistic wrap-around approach in caring for our neighbors in need and we serve all persons with dignity and respect. HATAS works in concert with our partners in service to eliminate duplication and to increase the quality of services available within the Capital Region.
