East Bay Family Defenders
312 Clay Street
East Bay Family Defenders (EBFD) will be opening our doors to clients on September 1, 2018, with the mission to keep children out of foster care or keep their time in care to a minimum.
Onboarding staff by mid-August, we will provide innovative legal defense, social work support, and peer mentorship to indigent parents (and possibly some children) facing child welfare intervention. Our office will be a highly-specialized, trauma-informed, fast-paced setting. We will partner with a robust network of community-based providers, expanding on their expertise to address families’ complex needs. We advocate for systemic change in Alameda County Juvenile Court and the local child welfare system to reduce system intervention in families and promote community-based preventive resources and restorative solutions that strengthen families.
