  • About Us

Parthenia is a dynamic quartet of viols dedicated to performing the rich and abundant repertoire for viola da gamba from the 16th to 21st centuries. Our mission is accomplished by: an annual series of concerts in Manhattan, where we collaborate with esteemed guest artists in engaging and surprising programs; commissions and premiers of new works for viols employing singers and other instrumentalists; increasing awareness of the viol's cultural heritage by touring to historical venues throughout New York City and to prestigious venues around the country. Parthenia is committed to creating more consort-playing opportunities, both professional and amateur, throughout America.
