ACT LIKE YOU MATTER

Mission:

To equip kids and teens with youth-informed tools that empower them to know their worth, find their voice, and rise above bullying and other forms of mistreatment, so they can become who they're meant to be and create lasting change in their schools, communities, and the world.

Vision:

We envision a world where every child feels safe, valued, heard, and respected. We want each person to know their worth and be true to who they are no matter what anyone else says. The world will be a better place when each individual is valued for who they are and encouraged to be themselves, so they can make their own unique impact—whether they make a difference in the life of one person or millions. Each individual's contribution matters, and together, they drive the progress of humanity.

Programs & Services:

1. Student led, age appropriate, anti-bullying empowerment assemblies for K-12th (a) on campus at schools in San Diego County and (b) via live-stream everywhere else;
2. Videos and scripts of our programs, available to rent and license on our website;
3. Free research-backed virtual interactive workshops for kids and teens to address a wide range of challenges related to:
   1. Mental health
   2. Emotional health/intelligence
   3. Discovering your purpose and passion
   4. Building your resilience and self-esteem
   5. Being true to yourself in a world where there’s constant pressure to conform to fit in with what’s viewed as “normal”
4. Free Online Resources: Resource videos and positive, empowering social media presence to (a) provide tools & strategies to kids and teens no matter where they live and (b) make sure no one feel alone in what they’re experiencing;
5. Apparel and other merchandise to spread our mission through empowering messages, all designed by members of ALYM’s Youth Advisory Board;
6. Bullying Resilience Coaching services for kids, teens, and parents, including peer support and mentoring;
7. Bullying Prevention Consulting services for schools and businesses.

All of our content, programs, and services are solution focused and developed in collaboration with kids & teens, providing a wide variety of tools and strategies that young people can use right away to find their voice, overcome bullying, build their resilience, and be part of the solution.

Since 2015, we have worked with 12,900+ students and 860+ teachers and parents through our on-campus programs in Southern California, helping to reduce bullying incidents, foster empathy, and create more inclusive school environments. Potentially thousands more have benefitted from our free online resources.

We believe in the power of young people. Real change in the way kids and teens treat each other must come from them. They have immense capacity to reach each other and connect in ways that adults just can’t. It all starts with giving them the opportunity to talk, ask questions, and learn from each other’s experiences. It grows by making sure each person knows that they matter and that it’s important to be true to who they are no matter what anyone else says. That’s what Act Like You Matter is all about.
