About Us

We are a professional membership organization that represents social workers in CT. We are a chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Our mission includes advocating for the profession and for the populations that social workers work with; developing and promulgating standards of practice; providing continuing education; protection of the public by enforcement of the association's Code of Ethics; and assisting members with practice issues. Our legislative agenda includes civil rights, health care reform, mental health care issues, child welfare issues, welfare reform, women's issues, progressive taxation, supporting safety net programs and guild issues such as licensure and confidentialilty. We also have a political action committee that is not affiliated with any political party and endorses progressive candidates. Both the chapter and the PAC mobilizes members to become active participants in the policy arena.
