  • About Us

Vermont Independent Media (VIM), draws from the volunteer efforts of community writers, editors, photographers, artists and mentors, and the support of local advertisers, to publish The Commons newspaper and to organize regularo media literacy programs under the Media Mentoring Project. VIM’s vision is to counter the trend to ever-larger media consolidation and control over locally produced and owned small newspapers and other community media. VIM’s independence permits it to operate right at the grassroots level, encouraging people to participate in reporting and debating their community’s news and issues.
