Urban Bridge Builders (UBB) will help local residents and stakeholders acquire skills and resources necessary to transform their underserved neighborhoods into vibrant, socioeconomically-self-sustaining communities. The lack of quality education is a major contributor to the national socioeconomic gap. Effective and sustainable educational reform requires a grassroots, relational/collaborative approach (1) accounting for both academic and socioeconomic needs particular to that community and (2) built on the capacity, efforts and strengths of local residents and stakeholders.
Urban Bridge Builders is a school-based, comprehensive urban community development nonprofit that serves alongside local residents and stakeholders to revitalize underserved neighborhoods and to build healthy communities by bridging academic and socioeconomic gaps through collaborative relationships. UBB aims to establish quality schools and to build resource and relational networks between community residents and stakeholders across various urban reform efforts— including job training, public-health services, and community cultural centers—to meet specific community academic and socioeconomic challenges.
