  • About Us

The United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) is an independent nonprofit coalition of approximately 140 nationally influential professional, educational, and governmental organizations. Representing over one million concerned professionals and the families they serve, the USBC and its member organizations share a common mission "to drive collaborative efforts for policy and practices that create a landscape of breastfeeding support across the United States."

The USBC is committed to promoting diversity among its staff, understanding the importance of attracting and retaining talented professionals from different backgrounds. A more diverse workforce provides many benefits to the USBC by enabling the organization to draw upon a greater richness of knowledge, experiences, ideas, perspectives, and talents. By valuing and capitalizing on diversity, the USBC can be more effective in carrying out its mission.

In this effort, the USBC has launched an initiative to promote equity and inclusion throughout the organization. A special committee and "transformation teams" are working closely with volunteer and staff leadership to "create and model a culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity." The initiative benefits employees through continued recruitment, training, and staff development activities focused on developing a diverse, highly-talented workforce. The staff team works together to foster a workplace environment where diversity is not only valued, but celebrated and utilized to optimize the performance of the organization.
