  • About Us

The People’s Collective for Environmental Justice (PCEJ) was formed to address the social, economic, and political ramifications of environmental racism in the Inland Empire. For generations, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and People of Color have endured the impacts of air pollution and climate change resulting in disproportionate negative health impacts, poverty, wage theft, and displacement.

We are an intergenerational collective of staff with different experiences in environmental and social justice organizing. We work to build power and strengthen relationships with communities in the IE and beyond. PCEJ recognizes that the Inland Empire is not homogenous, and many communities, each with their unique neighborhoods and history, make up the IE.

PCEJ works alongside environmental justice communities fighting for their right to breathe clean air, access clean water, and live free from contamination. In Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, over 500 identified disadvantaged communities equals 1.2 million people living in low-income communities overburdened by air pollution.

PCEJ also recognizes the members who make up our collective are individuals with their own strengths and skill-set. If our work and values speak to your heart and mind, we invite you to apply to work alongside us. We look forward to getting to know you and hearing about your story.

PCEJ believes that people speak for themselves and tell their own stories. We strive to make our work a reflection of this: to be accountable to those we work with, the leaders we support must be part of our communities. Therefore, Transgender, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Same Gender Loving, Two Spirit, Gender Non-conforming, Poor and Working class, Black people, Indigenous, Latinx communities, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern and North African, People Of Color, Rural, Formerly Incarcerated and Immigrant people are all strongly encouraged to apply. Also, people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply, and we are very open to talking about co-developing an accessibility plan and work to accommodate it (based on capacity) with any applicant and potential hire with any form of disability in order to promote a positive work environment that progressively eliminates barriers to access for people with disabilities.
