  • About Us

Southwest Chess is a nonprofit organization formed in 2012 to bring free chess programs to children from low-income families in the Santa Fe area. We started teaching chess in elementary schools during the 2013 spring semester. We provide chess sets, teaching equipment, a curriculum, and a chess coach. In the coming year, we plan to add more schools and help the children prepare to participate in tournaments against other schools in Northern New Mexico.
