Goodwill Industries of San Diego County
Goodwill Industries of San Diego County’s mission is to provide employment and training opportunities to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
Changing Lives by Getting People Jobs
Goodwill Industries of San Diego County (GISD) was established in 1930 in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter by a dedicated group of community leaders who believed in the incredible power of work. After more than 85 years in this industry, we have witnessed the impact of work on individuals, families and our community. Goodwill Industries of San Diego County is a not-for-profit community organization that provides employment training and paid work experience to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. In addition, Goodwill offers free employment services through Goodwill Employment Offices and Centers to anyone in the community who is looking for a job. Our goal is to improve employability and help individuals gain independence and financial security.
To achieve our mission, we rely on donations from the community and the revenue they generate through our retail operations. We welcome individual and corporate financial contributions, but we don’t rely on traditional fundraising activities to fund our mission.
A private, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, GISD is affiliated with Goodwill Industries International (GII), a network of more than 165 autonomous nonprofit corporations operating under the Goodwill name in the United States and internationally.
