    The Lake Tanganyika Basin of Central Africa is fast emerging as one of the most geo-politically significant places on Earth. Africa's largest source of fresh water, home to enormous mineral resources vital to next generation technologies, newly discovered fossil fuels, and hundreds of endangered and unique biodiversity, the lake region is also home to millions of indigenous and displaced poor across 4 countries: Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi and Zambia. At its core, the LTFHC / WAVE implements current programs that affect millions of people at the last mile of healthcare delivery in the Lake Tanganyika Basin and is accelerating efforts to establish a floating medical and broader research facility.
