RISE (Refugee and Immigrant Student Empowerment) Program with IRCO (Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization)

Portland, OR

  • About Us

The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) supports immigrants, refugees and mainstream community members to become self-sufficient. We strive in our programming, outreach and education to foster understanding, compassion and communication between Oregon's established communities and newest arrivals.

The aim of IRCO’s Refugee and Immigrant Student Empowerment (RISE) program is to engage and empower immigrant and refugee high school students at Oregon’s largest high school, David Douglas, through a culturally responsive after school program. RISE provides both academic and social support to increase participants’ likelihood of social integration, academic success, graduation and the pursuit of college and career opportunities.
