About Us

The SSJ Mission Corps is a year-long post-graduate volunteer program for women in the city of Philadelphia. The program runs from August to June. Volunteers live in community with one another in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia while focusing on the pillars of spirituality, justice, and simple living. Volnuteers are placed at a non-profit worksite in the city of Philadelphia, where they serve 35-40 hours/week. Worksites vary depending on the interests and passions of the volunteer. The volunteers predominant work will be with the materially poor and vulnerable of Philadelphia. Volunteers receive a $100/month stipend while the costs of housing, food, medical insurance, and transportation to and from worksite are covered. The program is grounded in the spirituality, mission, and charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Applicants need not be Catholic but are asked to have an appreciation of the Catholic faith.
