Teach My Kid to Read (TMKTR) is the first nonprofit dedicated to bridging the literacy gap through partnerships with libraries. Our vision is a world where literacy equity is a reality for all children, and our mission is to empower librarians with the tools, training, and resources needed to transform libraries into vibrant literacy hubs. By curating collections of decodable books and essential literacy resources, and by offering comprehensive training and community-driven solutions, TMKTR ensures that every child has the opportunity to become a confident and fluent reader

Teach My Kid to Read (TMKTR) is a grassroots organization ignited by our personal journeys and fueled by the urgency of our nation's literacy crisis. We believe that libraries are the heart of our communities, providing patrons free, equitable access to resources regardless of income or opportunity. Librarians, when empowered and supported, emerge as natural and passionate literacy leaders. Our goal is to cultivate a network of literacy leaders within libraries, driving transformative community-based literacy solutions.

We seek to achieve our goal by focusing on initiatives in two major areas:

1. We nurture Literacy Leaders inside Libraries by:

• Promoting the Science of Reading through Librarian Education: We educate librarians on the science of reading, encompassing both language comprehension and decoding, so they can effectively support educators and caregivers in developing confident and successful readers.
• Curating Library Resources: We empower librarians to build robust collections of decodable books and literacy resources by curating lists of high-quality options and by partnering with excellent publishers.
• Creating Community Literacy Solutions: We support librarians in developing and hosting impactful literacy programs that are tailored to their specific community needs.

1. We provide wraparound support to emergent & experienced Literacy Leaders by:

• Building a Dynamic Online Community: Our newly launched platform, 'Road to Decode,' connects librarians, parents, and literacy advocates in a vibrant and supportive network.
• Driving Impact: We partner with organizations and experts to amplify our reach and remove barriers to resources that will make a difference in improving literacy across the United States and Canada.
