Terra Sylvestris is a registered non profit non governmental organization located in Greece: The geographical centre of the Mediterranean biodiversity hotspot, one of the top biodiversity areas of the planet

Through the Kalamos and Kastos sustainable development project and the Kalamos island biological field station we work towards preserving and restoring the unique biological diversity of this area on sea and on land while at the same time being a driving force for sustainable development and environmental justice in the area. We are a largely volunteer run organization. We are scientific researchers, students, biologists, conservationists , natural resource managers ,and people from all walks of life that all contribute towards creating a world where man is in balance with nature

The corner stone of our philosophy is that sustainable development can be achieved through rewilding , which is essentially letting nature come back as much as possible the way it intended to and where this is not possible co-existing with man made ecosystems.

We also believe that indigenous people of areas consistently prove they are the best guardians of their environment and that historical rights of communities should be equally considered along with those of mother earth.
