Support, Advocacy & Resource Center

The Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (SARC) and the Crime Victim Service Center (CVSC) offers comprehensive services to victims of crime. SARC/CVSC is here to help victims in times of crisis and need. Our mission is to provide crisis services, support, and advocacy to victims of all non-domestic violence crimes, non-offending family members, and others impacted by crime. We strive to create and maintain a community without violence through prevention-based education.

Crisis Line

We are available 24-hours a day to answer questions, provide support, or if you just need someone to listen. This line also serves as a point of contact for clients who may need immediate emergency assistance. The 24-hour hotline is (509) 374-5391.

Legal and Medical Advocacy

Our agency staff and volunteers respond to the hospital and provide medical advocacy to victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes. Additionally, we provide legal advocacy during police interviews and at court proceedings. Moral support and information is given to victims, family, friends, and/or witnesses to crime regarding the systems in which they are involved.

Crisis Intervention

Our staff provides short-term crisis intervention to clients. Advocates provide information, support, and validation for clients. We recommend that clients seek additional counseling to assist in the healing process.

Therapy Referrals

We assist our clients in finding a counselor who specializes in working with trauma survivors. Additionally we have detailed information and options for counselors in our community who work with or without insurance.

Library Resources

SARC offers a variety of books and videos to help clients and community members learn about crime victimization and/or the healing process.

Referral Services

Our staff is able to assist clients in finding resources and information related to their victimization.

SARC offers prevention based education services throughout Benton/Franklin Counties. Programs are directed toward the primary prevention and awareness of sexual violence. All programs are done in an age appropriate manner and are sensitive to the audiences needs. The following core competencies - empathy/feelings, respect for oneself/others, self and

community responsibility, boundaries for oneself and others, conflict resolution/problem solving and gender stereotyping are incorporated into all programs. These competencies were selected as they mirror developmental assets that extensive

research has shown that youth need to avoid risk and to thrive. Equipping youth with many developmental assets help them to become caring, responsible adults - which are not people that perpetrate violence. In addition to focusing on developing assets, children are equipped with knowledge and tools to help reduce the possibility of sexual victimization.
