About Us

Grantmakers In Aging (GIA) is an international membership organization made up of funders of every type across the nation and around the world, dedicated to serving our aging population.

Aging touches every aspect of life, from transportation to livable communities, from retirement to second (or third) careers, from civic engagement to “grandfamilies,” from housing to healthcare. Even foundations that don’t consider themselves primary funders in aging often find that they do in fact make grants that improve the lives of older adults.

While the number of older Americans is steadily increasing, with the first of the Baby Boomers retiring in the next several months, funding for older adults has not kept up with the explosion in the age wave. GIA encourages funders to be mindful of the many ways grantmaking intersects with the aging population and invites you to participate in our many programs to learn how virtually all aspects of our society are being transformed by our aging population.
