Mission
Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) is a home-grown youth development and community empowerment organization that leverages the iconic game of basketball to help today’s young people overcome the most urgent and challenging circumstances facing under-resourced communities in our city and region. PYB inspires youth to become positive students, athletes, and leaders in their communities.
About Us
Built of, by, for, and with the communities it serves, PYB’s unique equity-building model combines engaging group activities and Sport & Society modules with real-world life lessons - from health and wellness to personal growth and leadership. This holistic approach to youth development hinges on the accessible, culturally credible Coach-Mentors at PYB, many of whom come from the same neighborhoods and circumstances as the young people we serve. Since its inception in 2015, PYB has served over 5,000 young people and counting.
