The Hope Children & Empowerment Center Organization

Introduction The Hope Children & Empowerment Center’s aim is to guide the needy children in our villages in their often difficult lives. We also want to help street children so that they can adjust to a more structured life in a place they call their home. The center also aims to facilitate youth and women groups by offering them a place where they can hold meetings and discuss their challenges. In short, the Hope Center intends to be a center for community development and recreation for all. The HCCR was started in the year 2008 by the founder who introduced the idea to community and lease the group the land for holding their meeting and doing any other community development. The group later in 2009 November it was registered as community based organization in the office of the district Gender, children & social development officer (DGSDO) with certificate registration number 12394;

MISSION STATEMENT: The Hope Center wants to provide an environment which fosters the potential in each child, as well as in youth and women groups. We aim to encourage our children and youth to use creative outlets to express them-selves. The children and the youth will be counseled and encouraged to pursue their dreams, whatever they may be. They will grow up in a well-surrounded environment, infused with arts and culture.

OBJECTIVES: (a) To provide safe shelter, food, clothing and education to abandoned, displaced, needy and orphaned children and youth. (b) To house a community center for local women and youth as a way to encourage the discussion of the community’s developmental issues. (c) To have an on-site organic farm and livestock to feed the children, provide income and to teach children organic farming skills. (d) To provide counseling to children at the home. (e) To empower the youth through arts (theater, painting, drawing, music, dance, jewelry making, sewing). (f) To reach the community in awareness campaign on varies issues affecting them, such as Hiv/Aids, Drugs abuse, sexual abuse and children right and human right (civic education)
