  • Mission

Glen Echo Fire Department Foundation supports the department volunteers who train for, intervene in, and mitigate medical, fire, and rescue emergencies, while also building community among both our members and our neighbors.

    About Us

A part of the Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service, Glen Echo Fire Department is an emergency response organization located in Bethesda, Maryland.

The station is combination career/volunteer, and runs an ambulance, a fire engine, a paramedic chase car, and an ATV. There are five career personnel at the station at all times, and volunteer shifts of up to seven people bump up the staffing on evenings, weekends, holidays, summer break, etc.

Despite it being a fire department, volunteers at Glen Echo primarily staff the ambulance, though there’s also opportunities to go through fire training and ride on the engine as well.

Glen Echo runs roughly 2,400 calls a year. The most common dispatch is "injured person from a fall," but the department responds to everything from car crashes to heart attacks to fires to cardiac arrests.
