Whatcom Coalition for Environmental Education
Mission
The Whatcom Coalition for Environmental Education (WCEE) is a program of the Whatcom Community Foundation.
We are a supportive network of collaborators committed to expanding and deepening access to high-quality culturally responsive environmental education for every child across Whatcom County.
Together, we :
- Increase equity and justice in environmental education programming and address barriers to delivery through knowledge and resource sharing, professional development, capacity building and kindness.
- Develop clear pathways, roles and shared practices for partnerships with districts and schools to ensure all learners can participate in environmental education.
- Support development of user-centric tools and resources to enable research and analysis, asset mapping, and data-supported decision making.
About Us
Our vision is that every young person across Whatcom County experiences equitable, inclusive and culturally responsive environmental and sustainability education. Place-based learning is integrated with educational outcomes across grades. Educators inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation, and connect experiences with the head and heart. Empowered youth have the knowledge and skills to be responsible stewards of our communities and our planet.
