    About Us

Founded in 1913, Lydia Patterson Institute (LPI) is a faith-based educational institution located on the U.S.-Mexico border, dedicated to serving underserved and underprivileged students in grades 7-12. With over 110 years of service, LPI’s mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where students can grow academically, spiritually, and personally. The school offers a rigorous academic curriculum, college and career readiness programs, a strong foundation in faith and character development, plus a robust bilingual education and environment.

LPI is deeply committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder access to education, providing 100% of its student body with scholarships. Most students come from Spanish-speaking families, demonstrating resilience, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to community. Many students cross the border daily to attend LPI, further exemplifying their dedication to education and the opportunities it provides. As a United Methodist Church-affiliated institution, LPI fosters leadership, service, and spiritual growth. LPI empowers students to become leaders in their communities and beyond.
