  • Mission

Sanford Health is dedicated to the work of health and healing.

    About Us

Volunteers are an essential part of our hospice team. We serve a diverse group of patients and families and our volunteers reflect that diversity to serve their needs. Volunteers come to us with a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. They are well-rounded, with the desire to share their gifts such as music, writing, art and reading. They may help with light household tasks, such as preparing meals or doing dishes. Some may even help with yard work or gardening. Most of all, the greatest gift volunteers provide is simply being present. As a Sanford Hospice Volunteer, your will to help is deeply appreciated.

Hospice volunteers spend time in the homes of patients and their families. This necessitates an application and interview process to verify the person is right for Sanford Hospice volunteer duties. Sanford also has an organized training program for patient care volunteers. These training programs cover topics including: bereavement support, confidentiality, listening skills, loss and grief, signs and symptoms of approaching death, understanding hospice and working with families.
