About Us
St John the Compassionate Mission was founded in 1986 by a group of people who desired to address the most fundamental social problem of modern society. The vision behind our Mission is about more than just providing services to the community poor - it is about addressing the loneliness and abuse that lies at the core of poverty. We look beyond what the "poor" lack and instead look to the unique gifts and beauty they possess, that has, for the most part, either been ignored or abused. At St John's, the poor are not "helped" so much as valued, and this encourages people to help one another. Ultimately this is the deepest service we can offer each other.
