Partners for Our Communities

Our mission at Partners for Our Communities (POC) is to empower people and change lives with a vision of a community of strong citizens, healthy families, and vibrant neighborhoods. POC has been a leader in providing access to human services for 24 years and has a proven track record for providing effective, evidence-based programs that empower underserved people to become educated and financially sound members of the community. We started in 1995 serving 7,000 individuals with no executive director and 1 staff member. We provide Adult Literacy and Employment, Health and Wellness, Youth Development / Education and Family Engagement, and Adult Leadership programs. Today we have 17 staff members and a full time Executive Director. Initially we had one apartment to provide programs, now we have 2 apartments and 5 other sites including Higgins Education Center (Hoffman Estates), Community Resource Center (Palatine), Roots Community Garden (Palatine), Community School at Winston Campus (Palatine), Rolling Meadows Community Center, and Falcon Park Recreation Center (Palatine).
