About Us

The Wanda Alston Foundation is the first and only housing program in Washington DC that is solely dedicated to offering pre-independent living services to LGBTQ youth between the ages of 16 and 24 experiencing homelessness. These services include: up to 18 months of shelter; case management; educational guidance and support; job training and guidance; connection to medical, mental health and behavioral health services; life skills training and development; other supportive service referrals. Wanda Alston Foundation residents have their own rooms and live with an advocate who has LGBTQ cultural competency and extensive knowledge of the challenges of youth experiencing homelessness.
