  • About Us

Founded in 2002, Matahari Women Workers’ Center is a community based social justice organization of women working to end gender violence and exploitation. We aim to develop the leadership of women who are directly impacted by wage theft, lack of workers rights, and economic & labor exploitation. The core of our work is grassroots leadership development and the empowerment of women workers and their families to change the laws and conditions that impact us.

Matahari is a worker directed nonprofit organization that uses a horizontal model for staffing & compensation as of July 2022. We are a fiscally sponsored project of Resist, Inc.
