Avesta Housing is a nonprofit affordable housing provider with over 40 years of experience as a leader in affordable housing development and property management in southern Maine and New Hampshire. The organization is headquartered in Portland, Maine and currently has more than 80 properties and 2,400 apartments in its portfolio. Avesta’s mission is to improve lives and strengthen communities by promoting and providing quality affordable homes for people in need. Its five areas of focus are advocacy, development, property management, home ownership, and assisted living.

We take the professional development of our employees very seriously. We value training, mentorship, and professional growth. We have a full-time Training and Development Manager, and we offer Avesta LEADS, a leadership training program for employees who want to expand their skills and knowledge and position themselves for advancement within the organization. With a staff of 245 people, including more than 30 new positions that have been created in the past five years alone, there is room to grow within and across departments.
We have a diverse team that values our culture of comradery. Our staff-run Social Wellness Activity Group hosts social outings and events throughout the year, including potlucks, a staff softball game, family activities, a running/walking club, a summer outing, a winter reception, and much more!
