Breast Cancer Network of Strength Connecticut

The mission of Breast Cancer Network of Strength is to ensure through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone.

We are a breast cancer support organization that provides immediate emotional relief, strength and support to anyone affected by breast cancer.

Our vision began when the national organization was founded in 1978 by Ann Marcou and Mimi Kaplan, two breast cancer patients who sought to provide support for fellow breast cancer patients and their loved ones. Ann and Mimi's vision and hard work produced a nationwide network that provides immediate emotional support through our YourShoes 24/7 Breast Cancer Support Center, newsletters, publications, brochures and website. Our support center is available in 150 different languages and our website is available in six diiferent languages. Other Breast Cancer Network of Strength programs include a match program for patients who have similar diagnoses and life experiences as our peer counselors; a match program for caregivers; a wig and prosthesis bank; our monthly ShareRing Network Teleconference; A Day for You programs for the medically underserved; local support groups facilitated by breast cancer survivors; and other local community events.

Breast Cancer Network of Strength Connecticut formerly known as Y-ME New England was founded in 1989 by breast cancer survivors seeking to provide support to others facing a breast cancer diagnosis in Connecticut.

We do not fund research, however are here today for those who cannot wait for tomorrow's cure.
