Community LINC

The mission of Community LINC is to develop self sufficient families and communities. Since 1988, Community LINC has been providing a tangible measure of hope to homeless families by teaching them skills to fight and win the battle against homelessness in a safe, nurturing and accountable environment. All Community LINC programs are based on time-tested strategies that empower homeless and at-risk families to rebuild their lives, strengthening both the family and our greater Kansas City community.

Community LINC is the largest single site provider of transitional housing for homeless families in Kansas City. In 2008, Community LINC will provide more than 25,000 bednights and hundreds of hours of programming to women, men and children who are taking advantage of the programs and services. Clients benefit from trained, caring professional staff and volunteers who help families take control of their lives, envision productive futures and achieve their goals.

Over 500 families have been provided shelter and training through our transitional housing program since it began in 1988. Eighty percent of families entering the program graduate, 98 percent of our graduate families are now living in permanent housing, and 93 percent employed full time.
