Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI)

  • Mission

Distressed Children & Infants International is a U.S.-based International non-profit child rights organization established at Yale University in 2003 with a mission to prevent child labor and blindness worldwide. DCI is committed to protecting the rights of children, stopping child labor, preventing blindness, promoting inclusion efforts for the disabled and lifting distressed children in developing nations out of poverty and hunger by providing education, healthcare, vision care, skill training, and family support. In keeping with our motto of "Children Helping Children," we involve American youth in all our activities and connect them to less fortunate children in other countries. By participating in DCI's mission, young people learn the critical challenges faced by some other children in the world and are called to service on their behalf, ultimately growing into responsible global citizens and future leaders. About Us

Distressed Children and Infants International (DCI), is a nonprofit child rights organization based in Cheshire, CT. It was founded in 2005 to improve the socio-economic, educational, and health conditions of underprivileged children in the United States and worldwide. Most of us take for granted the basic necessities of life: food, water, shelter, health, education, and family. But there are millions of children in the world who lack these essential things. DCI's goal is to help provide these necessities to impoverished children throughout the world. At DCI, we have chosen sponsorship as the base program for helping children in developing countries because we have found that sponsorship is the most effective way to provide stable, long-term, ongoing services to the children and the families we serve. DCI also works with the families and communities of its sponsored children to develop sustainable income-generating activities for long-term prosperity.
