Distressed Children and Infants International (DCI), is a nonprofit child rights organization based in Cheshire, CT. It was founded in 2005 to improve the socio-economic, educational, and health conditions of underprivileged children in the United States and worldwide. Most of us take for granted the basic necessities of life: food, water, shelter, health, education, and family. But there are millions of children in the world who lack these essential things. DCI's goal is to help provide these necessities to impoverished children throughout the world. At DCI, we have chosen sponsorship as the base program for helping children in developing countries because we have found that sponsorship is the most effective way to provide stable, long-term, ongoing services to the children and the families we serve. DCI also works with the families and communities of its sponsored children to develop sustainable income-generating activities for long-term prosperity.
