William Booth was the founder of the Salvation Army, which started in London in 1865. When asked his purpose, his response was, "While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight. While little children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight. While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight. While there is a drunkard left, While there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, While there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight-I'll fight to the very end!"
Since that time, the Salvation Army has grown into a worldwide mission with soldiers, officers and volunteers all around the globe, responding to the call to serve, gladly proclaiming, "I'LL GO!"
The Salvation Army of East Volusia & Flagler Counties currently has social services, thrift store, & Center of Hope Substance Abuse Treatment Center. Every year, Angel Tree providing gifts for kids in the community; and bell ringers who help raise funds that allow us to serve our own community all throughout the year. While the corps officers and Salvation Army staff here in Daytona are working fervently and faithfully to keep all our services running and set goals for new and exciting things, having volunteers join the ranks in doing God's work makes a tremendous difference in pulling all the components together. We continue to call out for others to come join our efforts in reaching out and serving our community. Will YOU go?!
