About Us

Lydia’s House is a supportive transitional house for women and young children experiencing homelessness and other situations of crisis. Founded in 2012, Lydia’s House seeks to be a place of hope to help women get the support they need to provide for their families. Hamilton County holds one of the highest childhood poverty and homelessness rates in the U.S. at 47% as well as being 40,000 units short in affordable housing. The result is overflowing shelters that are not able to give the attention and support to all individuals seeking the services offered.

Lydia’s House strives to meet more than basic necessities, our intention is to create an environment where women and children can heal, learn, and grow toward wholeness as a family. In practical terms our work looks like transporting women to important appointments, supporting in pregnancy and childbirth, helping them find meaningful educational opportunities or work, connecting women to safe and affordable childcare services, helping find affordable and safe housing options, as well as providing supportive options after families have moved out of our main shelter location.
