About Us

Sitka, Alaska is an isolated, federally designated rural community in a rainforest.

The Sitka AmeriCorps Program places 20 AmeriCorps Members who will build resilience strategies designed to mitigate the negative effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in rural Sitka, Alaska.

As a CNCS rural intermediary, the Sitka AmeriCorps Program members will serve at between 15-18 host-sites.

The Sitka AmeriCorps Program will has 20 AmeriCorps members who deliver a series of relationship-based interventions designed to build resilience and offset the negative effects of ACES. These interventions include: (1). academic support; (2). mentoring; (3). tutoring; (4). recreation; (5). mental health and/life skills support. 

For the past 11 years, the Sitka AmeriCorps Program is proud to have had the privilege of providing qualified, educated and committed AmeriCorps members to support the community in building resilience.
