  • About Us

GAVA is a project fiscally sponsored by Marathon Kids, Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. GAVA has recently become a Texas nonprofit but is awaiting nonprofit status and is thus still operating under Marathon Kids and using the agency's HR and financial backbone.

    OUR MISSION

GAVA's mission is to improve equitable access to healthy lifestyles by engaging and developing community leaders who identify, initiate, and lead efforts to reduce barriers to healthy food and safe physical activity in their neighborhoods and schools.

    OUR VISION

We envision a future in which zip codes no longer serve as predictors of health outcomes, and in which all Austinites in the Eastern Crescent - regardless of income, ethnicity, primary language, or immigration status - have access to healthy food and active living in their neighborhoods.
