AfroPink is a survivor-led nonprofit organization committed to advancing breast cancer awareness, education, and early detection through culturally responsive, community-based engagement. Founded by a two-time breast cancer survivor, AfroPink was created to address the gaps in awareness, access, and trust that often prevent individuals from receiving timely, life-saving information and care.
At the core of AfroPink’s work is the belief that health education is most effective when it is delivered by trusted voices and rooted in lived experience. AfroPink partners with healthcare institutions, advocacy organizations, and community groups to bring breast health education, non-radiation breast scans, and awareness programming directly into neighborhoods where traditional outreach may not reach.
AfroPink serves women and men impacted by breast cancer, with a focus on communities that have historically faced barriers to care, including limited access to culturally relevant information and preventive resources. Programming is designed to be inclusive, approachable, and grounded in dignity, empowering individuals to better understand their bodies, ask informed questions, and take proactive steps toward their health.
Through signature initiatives such as the Pink Pop-Up Program, AfroPink activates community spaces—churches, small businesses, workplaces, and public venues—to create accessible, welcoming environments for education and engagement. AfroPink also prioritizes survivor leadership, offering pathways for survivors to serve as ambassadors, advocates, and community educators.
As AfroPink enters its next phase of growth, AfroPink 2.0 focuses on building sustainable infrastructure, expanding partnerships, and developing a volunteer- and intern-powered model that allows the organization to scale its impact while remaining deeply connected to the communities it serves. AfroPink is guided by values of compassion, integrity, collaboration, and action, with a steadfast commitment to meeting people where they are and ensuring that awareness leads to meaningful outcomes.
