About Us

Pax Christi International is a non-profit, international Catholic peace movement working globally on a wide variety of issues geared to averting and dealing with the consequences of violent conflict. Our work can be divided into two major sectors: conflict transformation/peace building and advocacy/campaigning conflict transformation/peace building. Pax Christi relies on members from different countries and cultures to help bring about peace, respect for human rights, justice and reconciliation.

Pax Christi is grounded in the hope and belief that peace is possible and that vicious cycles of injustice and violence can be broken. As a diverse, faith-based global network, Pax Christi seeks to create cultures of peace and reconciliation that will transform a world shaken by violence, terrorism, deepening inequalities and global insecurity. Pax Christi pays special attention to the positive and negative role of religion in conflicts.

Values that guide the Pax Christi movement include human dignity and social justice; peace and reconciliation; active nonviolence; grassroots experience; compassion, solidarity and collaboration; cultural, spiritual and worldview diversity; prayer, study and action..

The International Secretariat is located in Brussels, Belgium.
