San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild

Mission

The San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild (Ag Guild) is a community-based volunteer organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant, resilient and sustainable local food system in San Juan County, Washington.

Vision

The Ag Guild envisions agriculture in San Juan County as a highly valued industry that:

• increases the availability of organic, non-GMO fruit, vegetables, meat, and seafood year-round to satisfy a growing demand
• provides community food security in the face of potential disasters
• attracts, trains and supports new farmers,
• promotes the profitability of local agriculture, so that farmers can make a decent living, and advances sustainability of the San Juan Islands agricultural infrastructure

The Ag Guild aims to do this by:

• promoting the production, processing, distribution and consumption of healthy, locally grown agricultural products
• sponsoring educational programs for farmers and consumers
• maintaining Brickworks as a year-round venue for the San Juan Islands Farmers Market and other community and private events
• supporting projects by local farmers and agricultural organizations that have the potential to increase measurably the county’s agricultural economy
• functioning as a community-based, county-wide, volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization to facilitate financial sustainability
