About Us

Courage, confidence and character.

These are the cornerstones of positive girl leadership, and something that we, the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, are proud to represent in our community, and have been for more than 70 years. Our organization serves more than 4,500 girls with assistance from 2,000 phenomenal volunteers.

We serve, encourage and engage troops, volunteers, alumnae, supporters, donors, community partners, cookie lovers, and above all, girls. Our council area encompasses 23 counties in northern Nevada and eastern California. That’s Alturas to Tahoe to Bishop, Ely to Elko, and everywhere in between.

As we continue our journey into the second century of Girl Scouting, our council focuses on five areas with a fresh approach to what girls do in Girl Scouts, how they do it, and how they benefit - now, and throughout their lives. These focus areas include: Healthy Living, STEM, Financial Literacy, Environmental Leadership and

Responsibility, and Community Service.

Please join us in growing the girl leadership movement!
