  • About Us

BOOKS OF HOPE is a Somerville-based, literacy empowerment program that develops youth into book authors. Since 1999, the program has trained hundreds of urban and immigrant youth in creative writing, spoken word performance, publishing, and entrepreneurship. Youth have written over 150 books of poetry, fiction, memoirs, and plays that are distributed through performances, festivals, libraries, and bookstores. Our mission is to inspire a passion for reading and writing in young people and develop the next generation of poets and writers.
